The DVD+R format, developed by Sony and backed up by the DVD+RW Alliance, is a competing format to the DVD-R, which was developed first. The inherent technology employed in DVD+Rs is superior to that used in DVD-R. The result is a more robust disc, employing greater error management technology, and overall better precision at higher speeds. Probably the greatest difference between the DVD+R and DVD-R is that DVD-Rs finalize after a single burn, while DVD+Rs allow you the option of creating a 'multisession disc' instead of finalizing after the first burn. Multisession discs, however, may not be compatible with all players and DVD drives. For widest compatibility, ensure that your DVD drive is marked as DVD±R.
